One North LaSalle’s COVID-19 Safety Protocols Earn WELL Health-Safety Rating

CHICAGO, IL | April 11, 2022

MB Real Estate (MBRE) is excited to announce that One North LaSalle has earned the WELL Health-Safety Rating (WHSR) from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI). This rating is representative of the continued dedication to safety that Bridge Investment Group, the ownership group of One North LaSalle, has shown toward tenants, visitors, and building staff at the iconic LaSalle Street address. The MBRE management team at One North LaSalle implemented robust operational procedures and maintenance protocols, passing a rigorous year-long assessment by IWBI and third-party review by Green Business Certification Inc., before earning this prominent safety rating.

“This rating indicates that tenants can confidently return to their One North LaSalle offices with the knowledge that the building’s operational procedures meet a consistently high standard for health and safety, especially as it relates to COVID-19,” said MBRE Executive Vice President and Director of Asset Management Suzanne Hendrick. “Seeking this rating was thoughtful on the part of building ownership, Bridge Investment Group, and the management team did a tremendous job executing what needed to be done.”

“To me, the tenants and staff at One North LaSalle are family. And just like my real family, I want them to be safe, and I want them to feel comfortable in their workplace,” said MBRE Vice President and One North LaSalle General Manager Courtney Hamm. “I’m blown away by the hard work my team has done to earn this rating, which ensures the safe return of our tenants.”

One North LaSalle remains an epochal and elegant skyscraper born out of 1920s Chicago, a rare survivor of the city’s unique Art Deco architecture. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, visitors are often in awe of the bronze façades depicting Grecian symbols of success and reputation in the building’s elevator lobby. The lovingly preserved building also sports modern amenities, including a chic tenant lounge, a beautiful outdoor terrace, and a fitness center. One North LaSalle was also the first dog-friendly office building in downtown Chicago. Some of the building’s efforts to fight COVID-19 and earn the WHSR include an increased amount of fresh air, stronger filters in the air handling units, more daytime cleaning with a focus on high touch points, sanitizer stations in common areas, encouraged social distancing, and masking protocols for building staff in common areas and tenant spaces.

The IWBI Task Force on COVID-19 pulls from the knowledge of over six hundred experts, which includes individuals from the World Health Organization and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with a bevy of other global disease centers and experts. The Task Force endeavors to use evidence-based measures to advance a comprehensive framework for fighting disease in buildings and other professional spaces. The Task Force’s rating indicates to businesses big and small that it is safe to repopulate One North LaSalle due to the staff utilizing the best practices available to fight COVID-19 outbreaks and other health concerns.
